WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – All five Waves in the lineup went below-par during Friday's second round at the Amer Ari Invitational and the Pepperdine men's golf team rose three spots and into a tie for fourth place.
The Waves have a two-day total of a 21-under 555 (281-274) at the par-72 Waikoloa Kings Course. The 21-under ties the fifth-best score in team history after 36 holes.
PLAYER SCORES
- Senior Sahith Theegala (Chino Hills, Calif./Diamond Bar HS) is tied for third place with a 10-under 134 (66-68). He'll start Saturday three shots back as he goes for his second straight college win. His 4-under today included five birdies. It was the 70th below-par round of his career, extending his Pepperdine record.
- Freshman William Mouw (Chino, Calif./Ontario Christian HS) is tied for 17th with a 5-under 139 (71-68). He was flawless during his 4-under round with four birdies and zero bogeys.
- Junior Joey Vrzich (El Cajon, Calif./Christian HS/Nevada) is tied for 31st with a 3-under 141 (72-69). His 3-under today featured five birdies.
- Senior Clay Feagler (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) is tied for 40th with a 2-under 142 (73-69). He had an eagle and two birdies during his 3-under round.
- Freshman Dylan Menante (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek HS) is tied for 47th with a 1-under 143 (72-71). He had two birdies today in a 1-under round.
- Playing as an individual, sophomore Derek Hitchner (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) is tied for 77th at 146 (74-72). He had two birdies and went even-par today.
UP NEXT
Saturday's third and final round will begin with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. HT. The Waves will be paired with the top three teams, Georgia Tech, Texas and Arizona State.
