SAN LUIS OBISPO, California – Momoka Kobori had 18 consecutive pars on Tuesday to clinch a top-10 finish and lead the Pepperdine women's golf team at the Bruin Wave Invitational.
As a team, the Waves finished in a tie for eighth place with a two-day score of 919 (312-308-299) at the par-72 San Luis Obispo Country Club.
This was the 11th annual Bruin Wave Invitational, co-hosted by Pepperdine and UCLA. It was won by USC for the fifth time.
PLAYER SCORES
- Senior Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) tied for eighth place at 221 (73-76-72). Kobori ended the tournament with 39 pars, tied for second-most overall. Kobori has been Pepperdine's top finisher at five of six tournaments this season and this was her fourth top-10 result.
- Freshman Reese Guzman (Kahului, Hawai'i/Maui HS) also shot even-par today and moved up to 34th place at 231 (79-80-72). She had five birdies today, including ending her round with three in the final five holes.
- Freshman Alexa Melton (Covina, Calif./South Hills HS) tied for 35th at 232 (80-74-78).
- Junior Megan Dennis (Bedfordshire, United Kingdom/Florida Tech) tied for 41st at 235 (80-78-77).
- Sophomore Sifan He (Shanghai, China) tied for 56th at 244 (80-83-81).
- Playing as an individual, sophomore Kathrine Chan (Richmond, B.C., Canada) finished 53rd at 240 (81-80-79). She had two birdies today.
