IRVINE, CALIF. – The #6 Pepperdine beach volleyball team opened the 2020 campaign with a pair of exhibition road sweeps over Irvine Valley College on Friday.
No Waves' (2-0) pair dropped a single set to IVC (0-2) throughout the day with
Alexis Filippone and
Gigi Hernandez clinching the first win of the day on court three 21-13, 21-11. Newcomer duo
Hannah Frohling and
Mary Sinclair clinched the second dual with a 21-12, 21-11 victory on court five.

MATCH RECAPS
The Waves got started early in the first dual as
Simone Priebe and
Melanie Paul downed their opponents on court four 21-6, 21-5 to set the tone for the day.
Savana Greene and
Katie Gavin then downed the competition on court five 21-8, 21-14 to put the team in a position for
Alexis Filippone and
Gigi Hernandez to collect the clinch on court three.
Deahna Kraft and
Brook Bauer then downed the opposition in the No. 1 position with a 21-18, 21-11 win before Carly Skjdot and Sutton MacTavish completed the sweep 21-15, 21-11 on court two.
In the second matchup, Kraft and Bauer got things started with a 21-12, 21-11 victory in the No. 1 spot. Filippone and Hernandez followed up with a 21-13, 21-11 win on court three before
Hannah Frohling and
Mary Sinclair clinched on five.
Priebe and Paul picked up a 21-14, 21-8 win in the No. 4 position and Skjdot and MacTavish finished things off yet again on court two with a 21-9, 21-11 victory.
