RANCHO PALOS VERDES, California – Megan Dennis shot a 2-under 69 to lead the Pepperdine women's golf team during Monday's second round at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.
The Waves greatly improved in day two at the par-71 Palos Verdes Golf Club, posting a score 18 strokes better than the day before to record a two-day total of 596 (307-289). Pepperdine moved up two spots and into 14th place.
The tournament boasts a remarkable field with all of the top seven teams in the country according to Golfstat rankings, as well as 12 top-25 teams.
PLAYER SCORES
- Senior Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) is tied for 19th place at 144 (71-73). She had one birdie on Monday.
- Freshman Alexa Melton (Covina, Calif./South Hills HS) is tied for 28th at 146 (74-72). Her round included four birdies.
- Junior Megan Dennis (Bedfordshire, United Kingdom/Florida Tech) moved up 28 spots and into a tie for 45th at 150 (81-69). She had four birdies on the day, three of which came in the final six holes.
- Sophomore Sifan He (Shanghai, China) is tied for 74th is in 77th at 156 (81-75). She had a total of five birdies today, four of them coming on the front nine.
- Freshman Reese Guzman (Kahului, Hawai'i/Maui HS) is in 83rd at 163 (84-79). She had one birdie on Monday.
UP NEXT
Teams will begin Tuesday's third and final round at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. The Waves will be paired with Washington, Ohio State and Vanderbilt and they'll start on holes 14-17.
