Waves End Non-Conference With Loss to CSUB

MALIBU, California – Little went right for the Pepperdine men's basketball team on Wednesday afternoon as the Waves closed out non-conference play with a 79-51 home loss to CSU Bakersfield.

The Waves (4-5) never led against the Roadrunners (4-3).

CSU Bakersfield scored the first six points of the game and the only tie of the contest came when the Waves evened it up at 9-9. At 19-17, the Roadrunners went on an 11-1 run to make it 30-18, and it was 39-29 at halftime. Pepperdine scored the first two points of the second half, but CSUB scored the next four and kept the lead in double-digits for the rest of the game, and went up by as many as 29 late.

- Sophomore guard Sedrick Altman (Rialto, Calif./Colony HS) had a team-high 11 points along with five rebounds.
- Senior guard Colbey Ross (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest HS) had 10 points, four assists and two steals.
- Freshman forward Kendall Munson (Seattle, Wash./Garfield HS) had nine points and team highs of six rebounds and three blocks.
- The Waves shot a season-low 33.3% from the field while the Roadrunners were at 51.5%, a season high by an opponent.
- Pepperdine was outrebounded 45-22. CSUB had 18 offensive rebounds and a 22-10 edge in second-chance points.
- Turnovers were nearly even but CSUB had a 23-7 edge in points off turnovers.
- CSU Bakersfield got a game-high 20 points from De'Monte Buckingham and 14 points and 16 rebounds from Ronne Readus.
