Waves Comeback to Stay Undefeated

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's basketball team made a valiant comeback to defeat New Mexico State 54-46 on Saturday. Cheyenne Givens led the Waves with a career-high 15 points.
The Waves (3-0) trailed the Aggies (1-4) by as many as 12 points, but a dominant fourth quarter gave Pepperdine the victory.
BIG WAVES
The first quarter was very even, with the team trading baskets to the end. After one quarter, the Aggies led 12-11. New Mexico State took control in the second quarter, outscoring the Waves 15-8 to take a 27-19 halftime lead.
To start the second half, the Waves went on an 8-2 run to get the game back to within three points. The Aggies then went on a 10-2 run to retake control and take their biggest lead of the game at 40-28. After three quarters, New Mexico State led 43-34.
The fourth quarter was all Pepperdine. The Waves held the Aggies to just one made field goal and outscored them 22-3. Givens and Bambrick combined for 12 points, including three three-pointers, in the quarter to give the Waves the victory.

- Senior forward Monique Andriuolo (Melbourne, Australia/Maribyrnong Secondary College) had her first double-digit scoring output of the season, scoring 10. She also had nine rebounds.
- Redshirt-sophomore guard Jayla Ruffus-Milner (North Hills, Calif./Harvard-Westlake HS) led the Waves with 11 rebounds. She also scored seven points.
