Shelton Completes Competition in Texas

AUSTIN, Texas – Sophomore Robert Shelton of the Pepperdine men's tennis team competed in the H.E.B. Open- a Dropshot Series tournament- over the past week, where he went 3-1.

RECAP
The tournament started off with qualifying groups where each group consisted of four players who competed in a round-robin format to place each player in the main draw.

Shelton won all three of his qualifying matches while dropping only one set before dipping to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Guillermo Castaneda in a heartbreaker in his opening round main draw match.

"I enjoy playing in these tournaments because I improve in ways that I couldn't have in practice," Shelton said about playing individually.

UP NEXT
Junior Corrado Summaria takes the trek to Lake Nona, Florida for the ITA Fall National Championships on November 5 through November 8. Summaria finished the 2019-20 season ranked #101 in ITA singles before the abrupt ending to the season.
