#21 Waves Conclude Pepperdine Invite

MALIBU, Calif. – The 21st-ranked Pepperdine men's tennis squad completed competition in the Pepperdine Invite on Sunday afternoon after Waves players took on athletes from #1 USC and #21 UCLA over the weekend.

In singles competition, top-ranked Daniel Cukierman of USC earned the most wins throughout the weekend and was declared the singles winner. Cukierman defeated the likes of LMU's Diego Nava 6-4, 5-7, 10-4 and Pepperdine's Daniel De Jonge 6-2, 6-3.

LMU's duo of Diego Nava and Daniel Moreno won the doubles side of the tournament after besting the USC tandem of Jackson and Westrate 6-4, winning the doubles point for the Lions.

On the Waves' side, De Jonge, Adrian Oetzbach and Robert Shelton each earned singles wins over players from #18 UCLA. De Jonge defeated Sam Feit 6-3, 6-3, as Oetzbach stole a three-set win over Drew Baird 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 and Shelton took his match over Connor Hance 6-4, 6-0.

In doubles, the pair of Shelton and Corrado Summaria defeated USC's Westrate and Frye 6-2.

The #21 Waves travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan to compete in the ITA Kickoff Weekend, where the winners of each four-team tournament across the country will earn an automatic bid to the 2021 ITA National Team Indoors in February.

Pepperdine will take on #11 Texas A&M Saturday, January 23 at 12 p.m. Pacific. The winner of that contest will move into the championship round on Sunday at 12 p.m. as the consolation round will take place at 8 a.m.
