MALIBU, California – Pepperdine's Kameron Edwards has been named one of 30 candidates for the men's basketball Senior CLASS Award, the organization announced today.
 
Nominees for the Senior CLASS Award have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. CLASS is an acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School. The organization states that "the award program is designed exclusively for college seniors who are ulitizing their complete athletic eligibility, remaining committed to their university and pursuing the many rewards a senior season can bring."
 
Edwards (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Etiwanda HS) is averaging 16.7 points and 6.6 rebounds for the Waves as a fifth-year senior. He ranks fourth and sixth, respectively, in those categories in the West Coast Conference. He scored his 1,000th career point earlier this season, becoming the 43rd player in Pepperdine history to reach that milestone. He now has 1,099 points, putting him in 37th place all-time. Edwards collected All-WCC honorable mention status in 2019 and was on the WCC All-Freshman team in 2016.
 
Edwards graduated in four years with a degree in organizational communication, and is currently working on a master's degree in legal studies. He has earned West Coast Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll "bronze" honors each of the previous four years.
 
The initial Senior CLASS Award list of 30 will be cut down to 10 in February, and then a nationwide vote will take place. The winner will be announced around the Final Four.
