SCOTTSDALE, Arizona – Led by 
Joe Highsmith's 5-under 65, the Pepperdine men's golf team went low again during Saturday's second round of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate and moved up to fourth place.
 
After going 10-under in the first round, the Waves shot 11-under in the second and have a two-day total of a 21-under 539 (270-269) at the par-70 Mirabel Golf Club. They head into the final round trailing Arizona by seven shots and Clemson and Arizona State by six.
 
The 21-under ties Pepperdine's fourth-best team score ever after 36 holes. All five Waves went even-par or better on Saturday.
 
PLAYER SCORES
	- Freshman William Mouw (Chino, Calif./Ontario Christian HS), playing in his first college tournament, leads the Waves in a tie for 11th place with a 6-under 134 (67-67). His round today included six birdies.
 
	- Sophomore Joe Highsmith (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) moved up 26 spots and into a tie for 16th with a 5-under 135 (70-65). Like his first round, he overcame a slow start (2-over after six holes) with a big finish (five birdies over the next six holes and a total of seven on the day) to record his 5-under score.
 
	- Senior Sahith Theegala (Chino Hills, Calif./Diamond Bar HS) is also tied for 16th with a 5-under 135 (65-70). His even-par round included three birdies.
 
	- Senior Clay Feagler (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) is tied for 20th with a 4-under 136 (68-68). He was 4-over after five holes but bounced back with six birdies the rest of the way, including each of his final two holes.
 
	- Senior Joshua McCarthy (Danville, Calif./De La Salle HS) is tied for 44th with an even-par 140 (71-69). He had six birdies on Saturday.
 
INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENT
 
Additionally, three Waves are competing in the accompanying Mea Lanakila Individual tournament, being held at the par-72 Desert Forest Golf Club: 
	- Sophomore Derek Hitchner (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) is tied for fourth with a 2-under 142 (72-70).
 
	- Freshman Dylan Menante (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek HS) is tied for fourth with a 2-under 142 (73-69).
 
	- Junior RJ Manke (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Preparatory School) is tied for 10th at 145 (71-74).
 
UP NEXT
 
The Waves will be paired with Kent State and Utah for Sunday's third and final round, which begins at 7:50 a.m. on the first tee.
