Waves Fall in Game Two at San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO – The Pepperdine baseball team came up short in a comeback for the second straight day, as the team fell 4-2 to San Francisco on Saturday.

The Waves (19-20, 10-10 WCC) had the bases loaded in the ninth inning, but the Dons () got a strikeout to end the game.

The Waves put the first run on the board in the second inning when Mike Malinchak hit a sacrifice fly, bringing in Charlie Welch from third. After two innings of play, Pepperdine led 1-0.

In the fourth, San Francisco got a two-run home run to take a 2-1 lead through four.

The Waves answered back in the top of the fifth with an RBI groundout from Brandt Belk to tie the game back at two after five innings.

San Francisco regained the lead in the seventh inning, scoring twice on a double and a bases-loaded walk.

In the ninth, the Waves got runners on the corners, but a groundout ended the inning and the game, with the score 4-2 in favor of the Dons.
