NAPA, California – The Pepperdine women's golf team opened up the Silverado Showdown on Sunday and the Waves are in sixth place after the first round.
The Waves shot a 295 at the par-72 Silverado Resort North Course. They are just six shots out of the lead. The Waves are one of 11 teams in the field ranked in Golfstat's top 50, and Pepperdine is ahead of five of them.
PLAYER SCORES
- Senior Hannah Haythorne (Honolulu, Hawai'i/IMG Academy) had a terrific finish to her first round and is tied for 10th place after an even-par 72. She was 4-over without a birdie after 11 holes, but then birdied 12, 14, 15 and 16 to get back to par.
- Senior Hira Naveed (Perth, Australia) had a 1-over 73 and is tied for 15th. She had four birdies on the day.
- Junior Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) is tied for 33rd after a 75. She had one birdie.
- Freshman Kathrine Chan (Richmond, B.C., Canada) is also tied for 33rd after a 75. She had three birdies.
- Senior Patricia Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) is tied for 90th after an 83. She had one birdie.
UP NEXT
For Monday's second round, the Waves will be paired with Stanford and Northwestern and the three teams will start on the first hole at 8:45 a.m.
