SPOKANE, Washington – The Pepperdine women's golf team is in second place after Thursday's first round of the West Coast Conference Championships.
The Waves shot a 298 at the par-71 Manito Country Club and stands six shots behind host Gonzaga, and two ahead of BYU.
Pepperdine has won 17 WCC titles, far more than any other school, but is looking for its first title since 2015.
PLAYER SCORES
- Senior Hira Naveed (Perth, Australia) is tied for sixth place after a 74.
- Freshman Kathrine Chan (Richmond, B.C., Canada) is also tied for sixth place with a 74. She had two birdies during the first round.
- Junior Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) is tied for ninth after a 75. She posted two birdies.
- Senior Patricia Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) is also tied for ninth with a 75. She had three birdies, two of them coming on consecutive holes on 4 and 5.
- Senior Hannah Haythorne (Honolulu, Hawai'i/IMG Academy) is tied for 14th at 76. She birdied the 18th hole.
UP NEXT
Friday's second round will start at 8 a.m., while the Waves, Bulldogs and Cougars will all begin off the first tee at 8:55 a.m.
