SANTA CRUZ, California – Clay Feagler finished in third place and the Pepperdine men's golf team will head into the postseason with a strong fifth-place result at the Western Intercollegiate on Wednesday.
Â
In this play-six, count-five event, the Waves had a three-day total of a 10-over 1,060 (356-351-353) at the par-70 Pasatiempo Golf Club. The #19 Waves were one of four top-20 teams in the field. The other three finished ahead of Pepperdine, as well as tournament host San Jose State.
Â
The Waves had a tremendous front nine and had worked their way back into contention with the top four teams. All five scoring players birdied the par-5 ninth hole. But after three Waves birdied the 13th, there wouldn't be any more scores in red the rest of the way, and Pepperdine settled for fifth place.
