#8 Pepperdine Remains Unbeaten in Conference Play

PROVO, Utah – The No. 8 Pepperdine women's tennis team defeated BYU in Provo on Saturday, completing a weekend sweep and remaining undefeated in West Coast Conference play.
 
The last loss that the Waves suffered came in February, as Pepperdine has gone unbeaten through all of March and so far in April. The Waves have recorded wins over several ranked teams throughout their winning stretch, including #10 Northwestern, #6 (in March) and #8 (in April) UCLA twice, #41 Rice, #8 Texas, #13 USC and most recently #38 San Diego.

MATCH RECAP
No. 8 Pepperdine had no problem securing the doubles point, as Dzina Milovanovic and Adrijana Lekaj didn't allow any pushback from BYU's Taylah Beckman and Samantha Smith, winning first at 6-0. The 31st-ranked pair of Jessica Failla and Anastasia Iamachkine effortlessly took their match from Kate Cusick and Anastasia Abramyan 6-1 to finish out doubles play, putting the Waves up 1-0.
 
In singles play, #43 Ashley Lahey snatched the Waves' second point, defeating Kate Cusick 6-1, 6-1 on court one. Milovanovic finished in two sets as well, winning second over Madeline Almeida on court four, putting the overall score at 3-0.
 
After a slight push by the Cougars, Daria Kuczer once again came in clutch on court five for Pepperdine, taking a 6-2, 6-4 win from Taylah Beckman and clinching the match for the Waves, 4-1.
 
UP NEXT
The Waves return home to host the last two regular season WCC matches on Friday and Saturday. Friday, San Francisco visits Ralphs-Straus for a 1:30 p.m. match time followed by Santa Clara in a match set to begin at 12 p.m. Saturday.
