SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The No. 8 Pepperdine women's tennis team demolished No. 38 San Diego 4-0 on Friday afternoon at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center.

The win puts the Waves alone at the top of the West Coast Conference standings, having won six-straight conference matches and 13-straight in a run dating back to February 24th of this year.

MATCH RECAP
The 8th-ranked Waves started out in doubles play, where court two pairing Ashley Lahey and Daria Kuczer struck first, blowing out San Diego's Daniela Morales and Maria Tyrina 6-1. Court three was next in line to finish, splitting the score at 1-1.

It was the #31 doubles team in the country, Jessica Failla and Anastasia Iamachkine who garnered the doubles point, however, going into an extra point and defeating the 54th-ranked pair Solymar Colling and Maria-Paula Torres 7-5.

In singles play, no match went into extra sets as Kuzcer again finished first, defeating Torres in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. Iamachkine then snuck up on Maria Tyrina on court six, winning 6-2, 6-1 and finishing second for the Waves to put Pepperdine up 3-0 on the Toreros.
In a race to the clinch point, 57th-ranked Failla beat out Morales 6-2, 6-4 to win it for the Waves 4-0. Pepperdine was up on all other unfinished courts but one.

The Waves make a quick turn around and head to Provo, Utah on Saturday to take on BYU in their last WCC road match. The Cougars currently stand 10-8 overall and 3-3 in conference play. The Saturday match is set to begin at 1 p.m. (PST). Live stats and streaming will be provided.
