COLLEGE-AM: Pepperdine men's and women's tennis will host an Official Pepperdine College-AM after the match on Saturday. The College-AM offers the unique opportunity to be on-court in competition with some of the biggest starts in college tennis. Pepperdine men's and women's tennis players have brought their talents to Malibu from all over the world, and many of them hold professional rankings. The Official College-AM experience also includes a reception where players, coaches and attendees will enjoy refreshments and snacks after the event. NCAA Rules do not allow current recruitable prospects to participate (8th-grade through senior year of high school).
THE WAVES: The Waves are 4-3 this dual season overall. Senior,
Adrijana Lekaj has composed the most singles wins for the Waves with 17, including the most wins for the waves in the dual season with a 4-2 output.
Anastasia Iamachkine claims the next highest record with 12 wins this season and
Satsuki Takamura also has three singles wins this dual season so far.
Throughout singles tournament and dual action combined, #55
Jessica Failla has posted an 9-5 overall record and #74
Ashley Lahey currently has a 8-6 overall season record.
Dzina Milovanovic currently holds an 9-7 record on the season.
In doubles this season, the Waves have collected a 9-6 record for a .600 success rate in dual play. #19 Failla and Iamachkine have amassed a 10-4 overall record including an even 2-1 output in dual play. The pair has gone 5-1 in ranked doubles opposition. Lekaj and Milovanovic have tallied an even 2-2 record including one dual win.
OPPONENT NOTES: Pepperdine hosts UC Santa Barbara this weekend in Malibu. All-time, the Waves have gone 30-7 against the Gauchos, dating back to 1977 when Pepperdine took its first 6-3 win. Most recently, the Waves have won against the Gauchos all six times that they have matched since 1997, including wins at home in 1997, 2003, 2004, 2011, 2017 and 2018.
The Gauchos are currently 5-3 this dual season, picking up wins against Nevada, St. Mary's and San Jose State with losses against #33 USC and #22 Washington. UCSB doesn't hold any ranked players.
LAST WEEK AGAINST MICHIGAN AND NORTHWESTERN: Last weekend, the Waves traveled to #21 Michigan and #13 Northwestern. After falling to #21 Michigan, the Waves went on to win their match against #13 Northwestern, 5-2. The match was highlighted by doubles wins from the pair of Lahey and Iamachkine over #20 Clarissa Hand and Lee Or as well as a doubles win from Lekaj and Takamura. Lahey went on to win her singles match against #30 Clarissa Hand as well. Other singles wins came from
Daria Kuczer, Milovanovic and Iamachkine.
ORACLE/ITA RANKINGS: The Waves are ranked #17 overall in the Oracle-ITA rankings. In doubles, the pair of
Jessica Failla and
Anastasia Iamachkine are ranked #19. Two Waves are ranked in singles #55 Failla and #74 Lahey.
