RANCHO SANTA FE, California – For the second straight day, the Pepperdine women's golf team pulled out a 3-2 victory in match play at the Lamkin Invitational, this time beating San Jose State to finish in fifth place at the three-day event.
Pepperdine came in first in the single round of stroke play on Monday, but then was upset by Sacramento State in the first round of match play, 3.5-1.5. On Tuesday, the Waves beat Texas Tech 3-2.

MATCH RECAP
Naveed (Perth, Australia) posted the Waves' most dominating win of the day. She never trailed, going up one after two holes, two after three holes and three after five holes. The lead was cut to one after 10 holes, but a strong finish gave her the 4&3 victory.
Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) also never trailed after winning each of the first two holes. She went up by as many as four holes before winning by two.
Chan (Richmond, B.C., Canada) made a big comeback that turned out to be the winning margin. She was down by four after seven holes, but then won the next five holes in a row. The San Jose State player tied it on the next hole, but Chan won 15 and 17 to clinch the match.
