The Waves (19-9, 12-5 WCC) clawed back to within six in the third but were ultimately outscored by Portland (13-16, 5-13 WCC) 30-19 in the fourth.
BIG WAVES
- Barbara Sitanggan (Fullerton, Calif./Troy HS) led in scoring and rebounds with 17 and eight respectively, dishing out five assists and recording three steals along the way.
- Keyari Sleezer (Medford, Ore./South Medford HS) tacked on 9 points, going for 44%, while adding on five boards for the night.
- Deezha Battle (Albuquerque, N.M./Cochise College) sparked the Waves by adding 14 points, nine of which came from beyond the arc.
GAME RECAP
The Waves started off slow, only scoring seven points in the first quarter but used an 8-4 run in the second to cut the Pilots' lead down to four. Turnovers proved costly on both sides as each team recorded eight in the first half, as

Mia Satie picked two, one and one steals respectively.
Pepperdine kept the Pilots to 30 points in the first half but let go in the second as the Pilots went on a run, scoring 25 in the third quarter and 30 in the fourth. As a team, the Waves shot 30 percent from field goal range, 15 percent from beyond the arc and went 12-19 from the charity stripe.

Pepperdine travels to Las Vegas for the West Coast Conference Championship where they have earned two byes and play game six of the tournament. The third-seeded Waves take on the winner of two days of contests at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 9
