CLEVELAND, Ohio. –
Julianna Chan of the Pepperdine women's swim and dive team competed in the last race of her career at the National Invitational Championships at Cleveland State on Saturday. The senior improved upon her own 100 IM school record.
MEET RECAP
Chan's final race of the event was the 100 IM, a race in which she already owned the school record, set at the 2019 Pacific Coast Swim and Dive Conference Championships in February. On Saturday, her time of 1:00.09 was three-tenths of a second better than her previous record of 1:00.39.
The Waves'
Anna Riekhof also competed in her final race of the season on Saturday. The junior swam in the 200 breast, finishing in 2:24.18.
QUOTABLE
"Today was a great way to finish our season," said head coach
Joe Spahn. "It was fun to watch Julianna finish her Pepperdine career with another school record. She has been a tremendous leader this year and put her all into her senior season. Anna swam a great 200 breaststroke to finish things off for us. I'm so proud of this team and these two young women. Julianna and Anna competed with a purpose this weekend on a national stage. They are truly paving the way for future Waves!"
