#7 Pepperdine to Host Arizona State and Cal

MALIBU, Calif. - The 7th-ranked Pepperdine women's tennis team has two matches this weekend, hosting Arizona State on Friday and Cal on Saturday at home. The matchup against the Golden Bears was rescheduled to this week after rain forced a postponement on the original date of February 1st.
DUAL MATCH 5: #7 Pepperdine vs. ASU | 1:00 p.m. | Friday, February 15 at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif.
DUAL MATCH 6: #7 Pepperdine vs. Cal | 12:00 p.m. | Saturday, February 16 at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif.

THE WAVES: The Waves are 3-1 this season after going 1-1 at the ITA Indoor National Team Indoor Championships.
#13 Evgeniya Levashova and Adrijana Lekaj have composed the most singles wins for the Waves with 16 wins each, including 3-0 in dual matches thus far. Anastasia Iamachkine claims the next highest record with 10 wins this season, all from tournament play. Satsuki Takamura is also leading in singles dual wins this season with a 3-1 output.
Throughout singles tournament and dual action combined, #52Â Jessica Failla has posted an 8-5 overall record and Ashley Lahey currently has a 7-5 overall season record. Dzina Milovanovic currently holds an 8-6 record on the season.
In doubles this season, the Waves have collected a 6-2 record for a .750 success rate in dual play. #1 Lahey and Levashova paired up for the dual campaign, collecting a 3-0 record so far. The duo has also gone 12-2 overall including tournament play, and 4-1 against nationally ranked opponents. #12 Failla and Iamachkine have amassed a 9-4 overall record including an even 1-1 output in dual play. The pair has gone 4-1 in ranked doubles opposition. Lekaj and Milovanovic have tallied an even 2-2 record including one dual win.
WCC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Ashley Lahey and Evgeniya Levashova swept the West Coast Conference weekly honors this week. The pair was selected as doubles pair of the week after going 1-0 in the No. 1 position, while Lahey picked up the singles nod with a 1-1 performance last week including an upset over #11 Maria Mateas of #3 Duke.
OPPONENT NOTES: Pepperdine welcomes Arizona State to Malibu this weekend. The Sun Devils are currently 4-3 this dual season, picking up wins at home against UC Davis, Drake, Northern Arizona, and Cal State Fullerton but falling to Wake Forest, Cal, and Oklahoma.
The Waves will also host Cal at Pepperdine this weekend. The Bears are currently 2-1 in their dual campaign, collecting wins against Florida and ASU but falling to South Carolina in their respective ITA Kick-Off Weekend championship.
The Bears have three ranked singles players, #28 Olivia Hauger, #41 Julia Rosenqvist, #92 Anna Bright, and #112 Maria Smith. Cal also boasts one ranked doubles pair, #22 Anna Bright and Jasie Dunk.
LAST WEEK AT THE ITA NATIONAL TEAM INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP: Last weekend, the Waves competed in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Seattle, Wash. The Waves opened the tournament with a 4-3 win over #10 Syracuse in the first round of the ITA Indoor Championships. The Waves started off in singles and after wins from Lekaj, Levashova, and Takamura, headed into doubles action tied 3-3 overall. In doubles, top ranked Lahey and Levashova kicked things off with a 7-5 win on court one. Milovanovic and Daria Kuczer clinched the overall wih a 6-4 win on court three.
The Waves then met #3 Duke in the quarterfinals of the tournament falling 4-1. Lahey highlighted the match with a win for Pepperdine in her singles match against #11 Maria Mateas of the Blue Devils, going 6-4, 6-2, against her ranked opponent.
ORACLE/ITA RANKINGS:Â The Waves are ranked #7 overall in the Oracle-ITA rankings. In doubles, the pair of Evgeniya Levashova and Ashley Lahey are ranked #1 followed by Jessica Failla and Anastasia Iamachkine who moved up to the #12 spot. Two Waves are ranked in singles, #13 Levashova and #52 Failla.
