
Waves Sign Tierney and Hosea for 2020

Malibu, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's water polo team has added two high-level recruits for 2020, head coach Terry Schroeder announced. Christian Hosea and Nico Tierney will join the team in the fall of 2020.
"I am very excited to add two of the best high school players to our team. Nico and Christian are two of the most talented high school players in the country. Both are also great student athletes who will continue to raise the bar for our program both in the pool and in the classroom.
The Waves are in the hunt for their second ever Golden Coast Conference title, with the final regular season game coming on Saturday against UC Santa Barbara. Here is some more information on the incoming Waves:
Christian Hosea | 5-foot-11 Utility/Attacker | San Clemente, Calif. | San Clemente HS
Named a high school All-American in both 2017 and 2018 … Has scored 303 career goals in three years at San Clemente HS, good for top-3 in school history … Named South Coast League MVP in both 2017 and 2018 … Named to Div. 1 All-CIF first team in 2017 and second team in 2018 … Played for USA Water Polo in 2016 and named an All-American … Chose Pepperdine because "I love the atmosphere of the school. It allows me to get a great education while allowing me to play the sport that I love and a high level."
Schroeder says: "Christian is one of the most talented shooters in the nation. He is a dynamic shooter who will bring instant offense to our team. He has the unique ability to go from the horizontal to the vertical quickly and explosively which make him a very difficult player for opponents to guard. His leg strength will allow him to transition to the college game very easily. He is also a high school All-American and we are looking forward to watching Christian grow and thrive in our program."

Named a high school All-American … Named All-CIF second team in 2018 … Helped lead Harvard-Westlake to 2018 CIF Championship … Played with the USA Men's Youth National Team in 2018 and 2019 … Named the 2019 UANA MVP in Trinidad and Tobago … Chose Pepperdine because "Pepperdine was the only school where I could combine my desire to play high-level Div. I water polo with outstanding coaches, a great team community and family environment with the pursuit of academic success and grow in my relationship with God to strive to be the best version of myself. The location isn't half bad either."
Schroeder says: "Nico is one of the most versatile high school players in the country. He comes from one of the best high school programs in the nation. He has played in the national team system and is a CIF champion and a High School All- American. He will make an immediate impact with our program as a defender who has an amazing ability to score the ball. He is a leader in and out of the pool and I am very excited that Nico is becoming a Wave!
