SAN DIEGO, California – A dominating offensive performance needed more than 90 minutes, but the Pepperdine women's soccer team finally broke through and beat San Diego 1-0 on
Madi Cook's golden-goal penalty kick on Friday night in West Coast Conference play.

Joelle Anderson (San Jose, Calif./Harker School) had most of the best chances, as she took nine shots and put five on target.

QUOTABLE
Pepperdine Coach
Tim Ward said: "That was one of the best-ever Pepperdine soccer performances in my 26 years, under the circumstances. There was such amazing energy, amazing unity. We could have scored a lot of goals. I'm a fan of San Diego's goalkeeper and she played lights out. But our girls were fantastic. Madi stepped up like a champ and buried the penalty kick. Devyn has played goalie before and she did a brilliant job, and her teammates did a wonderful job protecting her. I can't remember a team playing with so much energy and commitment for each other."
