PALO ALTO, California – Momoka Kobori shot a 1-under 70 to lead the Pepperdine women's golf team during Friday's first round of the Stanford Intercollegiate.
The Waves are tied for ninth place after an opening-round 293 at the par-71 Stanford Golf Course. The tournament boasts an impressive field and the top seven teams are all from the Pac-12.
PLAYER SCORES
- Senior Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) is tied for ninth place after her 1-under 70. She had five birdies on the day. She was 2-over after 10 holes but birdied 4, 7 and 8 at the end of her round. Kobori, who was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Month for September this week, has now been under-par in six of her 10 rounds.
- Freshman Alexa Melton (Covina, Calif./South Hills HS) is tied for 32nd after a 73. She had three birdies today.
- Junior Megan Dennis (Bedfordshire, United Kingdom/Florida Tech) is also tied for 32nd after a 73. She collected three birdies.
- Freshman Reese Guzman (Kahului, Hawai'i/Maui HS) is tied for 74th after a 77. She had two birdies.
- Sophomore Sifan He (Shanghai, China) is 90th after an 83. She had two birdies.
UP NEXT
The Waves will begin Saturday's second round at 7:30 a.m. on the first tee. They're paired with Oregon and San Diego State.
