FRESNO, California – Joshua McCarthy and 
Joey Vrzich both tied for fifth place on Tuesday to lead a contingent of Pepperdine men's golfers competing as individuals at the Nick Watney Invitational.
 
The Waves sent four golfers to the event at the par-71 Fort Washington Country Club, which featured 15 other schools.
 
PLAYER SCORES 
	- Senior Joshua McCarthy (Danville, Calif./De La Salle HS) went below-par all three rounds for the third time in his career and tied for fifth place with a 9-under 204 (69-69-66). He had 17 birdies for the tournament, including six in his final-round 5-under. McCarthy recorded his 50th career below-par round today, fifth all-time at Pepperdine.
 
	- Junior Joey Vrzich (El Cajon, Calif./Christian HS/Nevada) won this tournament last year while playing for Nevada and had a successful return in his Pepperdine debut, tying for fifth place with a 9-under 204 (71-68-65). He shot a 6-under today despite a pair of double-bogeys thanks to eight birdies and an eagle. He had 17 birdies overall.
 
	- Freshman Dylan Menante (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek HS) came in 26th place with a 1-under 212 (73-69-70). His 2-under round two included three birdies and just one bogey. He had nine birdies overall, including four during his third round.
 
	- Senior Clay Feagler (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) tied for 35th at 215 (73-73-69). He finished well with a 2-under today that included four birdies, and he had a total of 10 over the two days.

The Waves will send a full team to California's Alister MacKenzie Invitational next week (Oct. 7-8).
