PLAY BY PLAY

There were five lead changes and six ties in the first 10 minutes. But a 10-0 BYU run turned a 21-18 deficit into a 27-21 Cougar lead with nine minutes left. A 6-0 run helped BYU to its first double-digit lead, and the Cougars went up by as many as 11 before going into the halftime break with a 44-35 lead.

The Waves opened the second half on a 15-5 run and took a 50-49 lead after a Kessler Edwards three-pointer. Later, a 6-0 run, with five of the points from Kameron Edwards, put the Waves ahead 58-56 with 10:45 to play. That was Pepperdine's last lead, however. It was last tied at 62-62 with 8:44 left after a pair of Ross free throws.

It was still just a three-point game at 76-73 after a Cooper Jr. three-pointer with 3:10 left, but that was Pepperdine's final field goal of the game, and the Cougars extended their lead in the final minutes.
