Box Score MALIBU, Calif.— Malia Bambrick of the Pepperdine women's basketball team set a new career-high for the second game in a row, dropping 25 points as the Waves beat Santa Clara 74-48 on Thursday in Firestone Fieldhouse. Two other Waves had at least 10 points:
Yasmine Robinson-Bacote had 16 and
Deezha Battle had 10.
The Waves (9-6, 3-2 WCC) shot 42% from the field, compared to the Broncos' (8-7, 2-2 WCC) 35%.
BIG WAVES
- Malia Bambrick (Santa Clarita, Calif./Bishop Alemany HS) shot 10-17 from the field including 4-10 from beyond the arc to lead the Waves to victory.
- Yasmine Robinson-Bacote (Hillside, N.J./Hillside HS) had 16 points and extended her streak of 10+ point games to 15 on the year.
- Deezha Battle (Albuquerque, N.M./Cochise College (Ariz.)) had 10 points, three assists and shot 2-5 from three-point.
- Megan House (Oceanside, Calif./J. Serra Catholic HS) had six points, and led the team with nine rebounds.
KEY STATS
- The Waves held the Broncos to just eight points in the third quarter, while scoring 24 of their own.
- Pepperdine held the lead for 28 minutes and 17 seconds.
- The Waves were perfect from the free-throw line, making all seven foul shots.
- Pepperdine as a team had 24 assists on the night, compared to 11 from the Broncos.

GAME RECAP
The first quarter was a close one, as the Waves got on the board first thanks to a three-point shot from Battle. However, the Broncos made one of their own, and held the lead for almost five minutes toward the end of the quarter. The Waves did take the lead thanks to
Rose Pflug (Eugene, Ore./Sunset HS), who hit a shot with 42 seconds left, giving the Waves a 13-12 lead after 10 minutes of play. In the second quarter, the Waves took control of the game, going on a 12-2 run to take a 33-25 lead going into the locker room at halftime.
After the half time break, the game was all Waves. Thanks to nine points from Bambrick and eight from Robinson-Bacote, the Waves went on a 12-0 run and took a 24-point lead into the final ten minutes of play. Pepperdine took their largest lead of the game in the fourth quarter, going up by as many as 34 points. The Broncos made a small comeback , and scored the final five points of the game, but the Waves came out victors by 26 points, their largest margin of victory of the year.
