Waves Start Well at Golfweek Conference Challenge

WOLCOTT, Colorado – The Pepperdine women's golf team is off to a good start at the Golfweek Conference Challenge, firing a 1-under 287 in Monday's first round to move into third place.
The Waves have won this event four times in its nine-year history. To capture another trophy, they've got some work to do to catch UCLA, which had an opening 11-under 277 at the par-72 Red Sky Golf Club. Campbell is in second, one shot ahead of Pepperdine.

PLAYER SCORES
- Junior Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) is tied for fifth place after a 2-under 70. She had a total of five birdies on the day, including three to close out the round on 12, 15 and 18.
- Senior Hira Naveed (Perth, Australia), who is coming off a win at the season-opening McGuire Invitational, is tied for 12th place with a 1-under 71. She had four birdies during her round.
- Senior Hannah Haythorne (Honolulu, Hawai'i/IMG Academy) posted a strong finish to get back to an even-par 72, tied for 15th place. She was 3-over after 14 but birdied 15 and had an eagle on the par-4 16th hole.
- Senior Patricia Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) is tied for 27th place after a 74. She had one birdie.
- Freshman Kathrine Chan (Richmond, B.C./Canada) is tied for 62nd with a 78. She had three birdies on Monday.
