Women's Golf Season Underway

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – Pepperdine's Hira Naveed and Momoka Kobori got their 2018-19 seasons off to a good start, as the pair are both tied for sixth place after Monday's first two rounds of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational.
 
The Waves are in eighth place after two rounds at the par-72 UNM Championship Course with a score of a 6-over 582 (295-287). Pepperdine improved by eight shots and fired a 1-under team total in the afternoon.
 
PLAYER SCORES
 
  • Senior Hira Naveed (Perth, Australia) is tied for sixth place with a 3-under 141 (71-70). She had four birdies during a 1-under morning round, then six during a 2-under afternoon round. Her best stretch came at the start of the second round when she birdied three of her first four holes. Her total of 10 birdies is one off the tournament lead.
  • Junior Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) is also tied for sixth with a 3-under 141 (69-72). Her 3-under to start the tournament included four birdies and just one bogey. She then went even-par with two birdies.
  • Senior Hannah Haythorne (Honolulu, Hawai'i/IMG Academy) is tied for 29th place at 147 (78-69). After a tough morning, she came back with a 3-under in the afternoon that included six birdies.
  • Playing as an individual, senior Patricia Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) is tied for 38th place at 148 (73-75). She had seven birdies on the day.
  • Freshman Kathrine Chan (Richmond, B.C./Canada) is tied for 67th at 153 (77-76).
  • Freshman Sifan He (Shanghai, China) is tied for 85th at 161 (80-81).
