Final Results

NORMAN, Oklahoma " Pepperdine sophomore Joshua McCarthy will advance to the NCAA Men's Golf Championships, though unfortunately the season came to an end for the rest of the Waves at the NCAA Norman Regional on Wednesday.

McCarthy was the top individual on a non-advancing team, as he tied for fifth place with a 6-under 210 (74-65-71).

As a team, the Waves went from second place to eighth place over the course of the final round, and only the top five teams qualified for nationals. Pepperdine ended with an even-par 864 (295-274-295) at the par-72 Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club, three shots back of fifth place.

Pepperdine was in good shape coming down the stretch, but the four scorers played the final five holes at 10-over.

The sixth-seeded Waves were making their 23rd NCAA Regional appearance in the last 27 years, and fourth consecutive.

• Sophomore Joshua McCarthy (Danville, Calif./De La Salle HS) now has five top-10 and eight top-20 showings in his last eight tournaments. He had the lead after going 4-under through 10 holes, but finished with a 1-under 71 today. He tied for the tournament lead with 15 total birdies. This will be his second NCAA Championships appearance after tying for 56th last year.
• Junior Sahith Theegala (Chino Hills, Calif./Diamond Bar HS) tied for 18th place with a 1-under 215 (73-66-76). He had three birdies during his final round.
• Sophomore Clay Feagler (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) tied for 29th at 218 (73-71-74). He had three birdies during his final round.
• Junior Roy Cootes (Rolling Hills, Calif./Palos Verdes HS) tied for 47th at 223 (75-74-74). He had two birdies on Wednesday.
• Freshman RJ Manke (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Preparatory School) tied for 59th at 227 (78-72-77).

The NCAA Championships begin a week from Friday (May 25) at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
