First-Round Results

NAPA, California " Hira Naveed is in fourth place after a 2-under 70, highlighting Sunday's first round for the Pepperdine women's golf team at the Silverado Showdown.

The Waves are tied for 10th place after an opening 301 at the par-72 Silverado Resort. Six of the nine teams ahead of Pepperdine are ranked in Golfstat's top 15. The #50 Waves are currently ahead of four top-35 teams.

PLAYER SCORES

• Junior Hira Naveed (Perth, Australia) had five of the Waves' nine birdies on the day en route to her 2-under 70. She's four shots off the lead. Naveed was 2-over after seven holes but was flawless the rest of the way and birdied three of her final seven holes, and four of the final 10.
• Senior Katherine Zhu (Vancouver, B.C.) is tied for 32nd after a 75. She had one birdie.
• Junior Hannah Haythorne (Honolulu, Hawai'i/IMG Academy) and sophomore Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) are both tied for 63rd after 78s. Kobori had three birdies.
• Senior Tatiana Wijaya (Jakarta, Indonesia) is tied for 73rd after a 79.
