SAN DIEGO, Calif. " The Pepperdine men's tennis team traveled to San Diego on Thursday for a West Coast Conference match with San Diego at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center, falling 4-0.

The Toreros (11-8, 5-1 WCC) took control of the match, taking the doubles point and not letting the Waves (6-14, 2-4 WCC) close the gap in singles.

MATCH RECAP

In doubles play, the Toreros took control early, getting a quick victory on court two. Dennis Uspensky and Yusuf Khamis were up on 4-3 on their opponents when the doubles point was clinched on court one.

Down the doubles point going into singles, the Waves battled, but couldn't make up any ground. Khamis was his first set 6-3 against Gui Osorio, but lost the second set 1-6. He was leading 3-0 in the third when the match was clinched. Uspensky dropped the first set in his match against 76th ranked August Holmgren, but won the second set 6-4. His third set did not start before the match was clinched by San Diego.

The Waves continue the road trip on Saturday when they take on BYU in Utah at 1 p.m.
