Naveed Leads Waves at Silverado Showdown

NAPA, California " Hira Naveed went below-par for the second time at the Silverado Showdown and finished in a tie for ninth place as the Pepperdine women's golf team wrapped up play on Tuesday.

The Waves came in 13th place with a three-day total of 894 (301-300-293) at the par-72 Silverado Resort. There was an exceptional field, as of the 12 teams to finish ahead of the Waves, five were in Golfstat's top 10 and nine were in the top 25. #50 Pepperdine finished ahead of #32 Wisconsin and #37 UNLV, among others.

  • Junior Hira Naveed (Perth, Australia) posted her second-best finish of the season and had two below-par rounds in one tournament for the first time this school year. She shot a 1-under 215 (70-75-70). Her final round included four birdies and she had 13 overall, tied for second-most in the field.
  • Sophomore Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) tied for 34th place at 222 (78-71-73). Her third round had two birdies.
  • Senior Katherine Zhu (Vancouver, B.C.) tied for 52nd at 227 (75-77-75).
  • Junior Hannah Haythorne (Honolulu, Hawai'i/IMG Academy) and senior Tatiana Wijaya (Jakarta, Indonesia) both tied for 71st at 231. Haythorne went 78-78-75 and Wijaya shot 79-77-75. Both players had three birdies today.
