
Feagler Leads Waves Again at Southern Highlands

LAS VEGAS, Nevada " Clay Feagler posted his fourth top-six finish in his last four events to lead the Pepperdine men's golf team to a tie for sixth place at the Southern Highlands Collegiate, one of the nation's most prestigious events, on Wednesday.
The Waves played pretty consistent golf over the three days, but unfortunately dropped a few spots during the final round with a total of a 3-over 867 (288-289-290). The #28 Waves posted wins over the likes of #4 Alabama, #14 Illinois, #21 UCLA and #30 BYU and tied #8 Oklahoma. Three top-10 and four top-20 teams finished ahead of Pepperdine, and all six are in the top 40. The Waves finished only eight shots out of first place.

- Sophomore Clay Feagler (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) tied for third place with a 5-under 211 (68-72-71). In his first three events this spring, he tied for sixth at the Waves Challenge, won the Prestige at PGA West and tied for fifth at the Southwestern Invitational. Today's 1-under included four birdies. He had 12 birdies over the three days.
- Sophomore Joshua McCarthy (Danville, Calif./De La Salle HS) had Pepperdine's best round today at 2-under, moving him up to a tie for 16th place with an even-par 216 (73-73-70). He had six birdies today, including three in a row between holes five and seven. He had a team-best 13 birdies overall.
- Junior Sahith Theegala (Chino Hills, Calif./Diamond Bar HS) took 19th place with a 1-over 217 (73-73-71). His best round of the tournament, 1-under, featured four birdies, including ones on 17 and 18 to end it. Theegala's 55th career below-par round moved him into a tie for second place on the Waves' all-time list with head coach Michael Beard.
- Senior Anthony Cecere (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) tied for 48th place at 223 (74-71-78).
- Freshman Austin Murphy (Morgan Hill, Calif./Bellarmine College Preparatory) took 78th at 237 (77-76-84).
