RANCHO SANTA FE, California " Hira Naveed, Tatiana Wijaya and Patricia Wong posted match-play victories to help the Pepperdine women's golf team to a 3-2 win over Baylor on Monday at the SDSU March Mayhem event.

The hybrid event began with a single round of stroke play at the par-72 Farms Golf Club. The Waves finished 12th in that, shooting 312, putting them into the consolation bracket of match play. Naveed (Perth, Australia) had the Waves' best score, a 76.

Naveed won her match against Baylor's Fiona Liddell 4&3, while Wijaya (Jakarta, Indonesia) defeated Amy Lee 2&1 and Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) had a 3&1 victory over Laila Hrindova. Baylor's Maria Vesga beat Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) 3&2 and Diane Baillieux defeated Hannah Haythorne (Honolulu, Hawai'i/IMG Academy) 4&3.

Pepperdine's second match will be against Stanford on Tuesday, and the Waves will face West Coast Conference rival BYU on Wednesday.
