POCATELLO, Idaho – The Pepperdine women's basketball team had the lead with just over two minutes to play on Saturday against Idaho State, but a couple of turnovers at the end of the game led to their second loss of the season, falling 65-63 to Idaho State.
Deezha Battle led the Waves with 19 points.
The Waves (5-2) took their first lead in the fourth quarter, but the Bengals (5-4) overcame the deficit in the final seconds of the game.

- Deezha Battle (Albuquerque, N.M./Cochise College) led all scorers with 19, shooting 5-8 from beyond the arc.
- Yasmine Robinson-Bacote (Hillside, N.J./Hillside HS) had 13 points and three rebounds.
- Barbara Sitanggan (Fullerton, Calif./Troy HS) had 10 points, shooting a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line.
KEY STATS
- The Waves were outshot from the field, 46.4% to 42%.
- Pepperdine hit 40 percent of its three point shots, compared to 28.6% from the Bengals.
- The Waves had the advantage at the glass, pulling in 34 rebounds, while ISU had 26.
GAME RECAP
Idaho State started off with the hot hand, scoring the first seven points. The Waves' first points came on Sitanggan's first two free throws of the game. Pepperdine ended the first period on a 4-2 run, but trailed 22-16 going into the second quarter. The teams were relatively equal in the second quarter, with each scoring 13 points, sending the game to halftime with the Bengals leading 35-29.
The Bengals started the second half on a 7-2 run, and did not let up, leading the Waves by nine at the end of the third quarter. Pepperdine took its first lead with just two minutes to play in the game on a
Megan House jumper. The Waves led by as many as four, but a turnover and a couple of free throws gave the Bengals the lead again. With the game tied at 63 with 22 seconds left, the Waves had the ball, but an offensive foul led to an open layup for Idaho State, giving the Bengals the win.
