Pepperdine Athletics Continues to Post Strong NCAA GSR Numbers

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine University Athletics Department continues to post strong Graduation Success Rate (GSR) numbers, which the NCAA released earlier this month.

The Waves boast an overall GSR rate of 90 percent, up from last year's 89 percent and a bit better than the national average of 87 percent (a figure that tied the national record).

The newest GSR data covers student-athletes that enrolled between 2008 and 2011.

Five of the Waves' programs have now had 100 percent GSR rates for multiple years: men's golf, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's volleyball and women's volleyball.

Pepperdine's 90 percent ranks tied for fourth out of California's 24 Division I universities.

The NCAA began compiling these figures with the entering freshman class of 1995 and developed the GSR in order to more accurately assess the academic success of student-athletes. The GSR includes transfer students and removes student-athletes who leave in good academic standing. The GSR measures graduation rates over six years from initial college enrollment.
