Malibu, Calif. – Pepperdine women's basketball head coach Delisha Milton-Jones finalized her coaching staff on Thursday with the addition of Matt Parke as an assistant coach.
"I couldn't be more excited to be a part of this program and to join this group of players and coaches," said Parke. "I really believe in coach Delisha. I believe in her ability to motivate and to teach. The amount of knowledge about the game of basketball and her experience is unparalleled. I love how she puts character first and emphasizes being a good person and trying to help these women become better people and better basketball players. For those reasons, I am excited to be here and to be able to help in any way I can."
Parke comes to Malibu after leading the Los Angeles Clippers Youth organization since 2017. He last coached at the collegiate level in 2014, completing a four-year stint as the head coach at Averett university in Danville, Va.
"Matt is a great late addition to our staff," said Milton-Jones. "He will be a tremendous asset in all area pertaining to practice and the game. He has a wealth of knowledge to give to our young program."
At Averett, Parke helped the program increase in win totals each year he was coach, including a second-place finish in the USA South Conference in his final season. After he left, the program won two conference championships with players that he recruited. Prior to Averett, Parke was the associate head coach at Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C., where the team had a four-year record of 104-19, the most wins by any Division III program during that time period. The team made four NCAA DIII Tournaments, including two straight Final Fours.
