Sept. 30, 2017 MALIBU, Calif. -- The No. 9 Pepperdine men's water polo team fell to No. 2 USC on Saturday, 11-5. Both Marko Asic and Mate Toth scored two goals for the Waves in the game.
The Waves fall to 13-6 with the loss, while USC moves to 14-1. Box Score

The Waves hosted the second-ranked Trojans in a non-conference game on Saturday. USC came out hot, scoring four goals in the first quarter, and holding the Waves to a quarter without a goal. Pepperdine's first goal of the game came in the second quarter, when
Marko Asic (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) put a ball in the back of the net with 3:41 left in the half. It would be the Waves' only goal of the half. The second half was a more offensive half for the Waves.
Mark Urban (Budapest, Hungary/Diablo Valley College) scored to open the third quarter, making it a 6-2 game. After two goals from the Trojans, USC led 8-2 going into the fourth and final quarter.
Mate Toth (Balatonalmadi, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Boarding School) got two goals of his own, while Asic had another, getting the Waves to a total of five goals on the day. USC matched the three goals scored in the quarter by the Waves, with the game ending in a 11-5 USC win.
Zack Rhodes (Palm Desert, Calif./Palm Desert HS). Had nine saves on the day, improving his season total to 169.
