After four quarters of tight water polo, the Waves and Aggies headed to overtime tied at 10. Senior Kenneth Keller (Long Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) gave the Waves the lead in the second overtime period with just a minute to play. However, a penalty goal gave the Aggies the equalizer, sending the game into sudden-victory. One period passed without incident, but with 20 seconds left in the fourth OT period, Urban (Budapest, Hungary/Diablo Valley College) put a ball past the Aggie keeper, giving the Waves their 13th win on the year.
Leading up to the stunning finale of the game, the Waves were chasing the Aggies throughout the contest. UC Davis got on the board first, and kept the lead until the Waves tied it up in the fourth quarter with a goal from Mate Toth (Balatonalmadi, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Boarding School). Toth had a hat trick in regulation for the Waves, along with Marko Asic (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) while Chris Dilworth (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks HS), Urban and Keller each had two goals on the game, getting the Waves into the Overtime period with a chance to take the game from the Aggies. Zack Rhodes (Palm Desert, Calif./Palm Desert HS) had 15 saves on the day.
