MALIBU, California – Former Pepperdine All-American Andrew Putnam officially earned his PGA Tour card for 2018 after wrapping up the Web.Com Tour's regular season with an eighth-place finish on the money list.
Putnam, who was previously on the PGA Tour in 2015, posted one win (the Panama Claro Championship) and four top-10 finishes on the Web.Com Tour this season. He collected more than $266,000 in earnings.
"I'm definitely looking forward to it," Putnam told the Web.Com Tour. "The PGA Tour is where you want to be. I don't feel anything different because I've known for three or four months that I'm going there, but it's going to be nice in a month to be headed to Safeway and be able to be on the West Coast."
Looking back on his previous PGA Tour experience, Putnam said: "I think I just put a little too much pressure on myself and tried to be perfect. I kind of got frustrated and got a little down on myself. (This time I'll) just be a little more positive, enjoy the ride and enjoy the scenery."
The Tacoma, Washington, native was a three-time All-American for the Waves, earning honorable mention status three times from the Golf Coaches Association of America, and third team acclaim from Golfweek in 2008. He was the 2009 WCC Player of the Year and the 2008 WCC Freshman of the Year. He is one of a handful of Waves who earned four-time All-West Coast Conference first team honors. His career scoring average of 72.57 ranked second all-time at Pepperdine at the time of his graduation, and is currently fourth. He turned pro in 2011.
Two Waves made multiple appearances on the PGA Tour in 2017: Andrew's older brother Michael and Jason Gore.
