Waves Down Texas Tech 3-0 in Home Opener

MALIBU, Calif. -- The Pepperdine women's soccer team scored a 3-0 victory over Texas Tech in its first home game of the season.
Pepperdine scored twice in the first half on goals by Devyn Gilfoy (Brentwood, Calif./Liberty HS) and Danielle Thomas (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison HS), and Bri Visalli (San Jose, Calif./Valley Christian HS) added a strike early in the second half to put the game well out of reach. Brielle Preece (Livermore, Calif./Granada HS) got the shutout in goal, helping the Waves move to 1-1-1 on the season.

24' -- Pepperdine, Danielle Thomas (first of the season), assisted by Bri Visalli -- Waves drew a foul 40 yards out, free kick was sent in by Visalli from the right side and headed in by Thomas.
49' -- Pepperdine, Bri Visalli (first of the season), assisted by Brie Welch and Michelle Maemone -- Welch played the ball in to the top of the box to Maemone, who then slid the ball to the right to Visalli for the finish inside the left post.

"Getting that second goal on a set piece was great," said Ward. "That's something we've worked a lot on and it was a great service and finish. Then that third goal was probably one of the better goals I've ever seen here at Pepperdine. It was an excellent combination, with four or five girls involved. That was really a thing of beauty."
