SUGAR GROVE, Illinois " Saturday's second round at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships was rained out, so stroke play at the event will be reduced from 72 to 54 holes.

The original plan was for the tournament to cut down from 24 to 15 teams after Sunday's third round, but instead, all teams will compete in stroke play on Sunday and Monday. Match play for the top eight teams will continue as scheduled on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Pepperdine is in 22nd place after Friday's first round, which also saw rain but not enough to stop play. Heavy rain continued through early Saturday morning and second-round play never got started.

Sophomore Hira Naveed (Perth, Australia) is tied for fifth place in the individual standings.

On Sunday, the Waves will once again be paired with Texas Tech and North Carolina. They'll start on the first tee at 11:36 a.m. PT (1:36 p.m. CT).

Pepperdine is making its 12th NCAA Championships appearance and first since 2012. The Waves boast eight top-10 finishes and four top-five results at the NCAAs, including a program-best second-place showing in 2003.
