GCC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

MALIBU, Calif. - The Golden Coast Conference released its 2016 All-Academic team and six Pepperdine water polo players were honored. Robert Beck, Justin Cowan, Kenneth Keller, Brock Liebhardt, Mate Toth and Mark Urban earned recognition on the academic list for the Waves.

The team consists of members who carried a 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale), played in at least 50-percent of the team's contests in the sports respective season and was classified as a full-time student at his institution.

Urban (Budapest, Hungary/Diablo Valley College) and Beck (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic HS) posted the highest GPA's in the class at 3.68, followed by Toth (Balatonalmadi, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Boarding School) at 3.53, Cowan (Rossmoor, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) at 3.29, Keller (Long Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) at 3.22 and Liebhardt (Fremont, Calif./Washington HS) at 3.17.

Beck and Liebhardt are both graduating seniors who wrapped up their careers this season, helping the Waves to a GCC Tournament title. Beck posted six goals and three assists, while Liebhardt had 10 assists and nine goals. Urban was the second leading scorer on the team, posting 40 goals and a team-high 33 assists, on his way to also earning All-American honorable mention.

Toth was third on the team in scoring, putting up 39 goals and seven assists, and Keller was second on the team with 31 assists to go along with his 23 goals. Cowan was one of six players with double-digit goal and assist totals, putting up 14 goals and 11 assists.
