RESULTS BOISE, Idaho: The Pepperdine men's tennis team earned a 4-0 sweep over Boise State at the Appleton Tennis Center this Saturday afternoon, winning the 12th doubles point of the season en route to the victory. The Waves won the doubles point with wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, before picking up singles victories on courts two, four and five to finish the day with the win.
The doubles point was the 12th of the season in the Waves 15-match season thus far. To open the doubles action senior Guilherme Hadlich (Balneário Camboriú, Brazil/Colégio Energia) and sophomore Gabriel Sidney (Curitiba, Parana, Brazil/Anglo Americano) bested Jack Heslin and Morgan Stone with a 6-2 result in the No. 2 position.
Then, sophomore Jack Van Slyke (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/Laurel Springs HS (Calif.)) and senior Stefan Menichella (Santa Barbara, Calif./University HS) defeated Pedro Platzeck and Brian Tran with a 6-3 mark on court one to clinch the doubles point and send the Waves into singles action with the advantage.
In singles action, Van Slyke crushed Morgan Stone with a pair of 6-1 sets in the No. 5 position to put the Waves up 2-0 on the day. Menichella then downed Jack Heslin with a 6-3, 6-3 final mark to put his team in a position to clinch.
Junior duo Pedro Iamachkine (Lima, Peru/Nebraska HS) would be the Wave to clinch from the No. 4 position, defeating Pedro Platzeck with a 6-3, 6-2 final result to finish the match with a 4-0 Waves' win.
