MOORPARK, California " The Pepperdine women's golf team had a strong showing in a single-round triangular at Moorpark Country Club on Saturday, tying #14 Northwestern and finishing four strokes better than #2 USC.

The Waves, ranked 36th by Golfstat, shot an even-par 288, as did the Wildcats. The Trojans finished at 292.

Junior Katherine Zhu (Vancouver, B.C.) had the best round for Pepperdine with a 2-under 70 that put her in third place out of the 20 golfers in the field. She had five birdies on the day, including four on the back nine. The five birdies tied the second-most of anyone for the round.

Sophomores Hira Naveed (Perth, Australia) and Patricia Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) both tied for sixth place with even-par 72s. Naveed had two birdies on the front nine and closed with an eagle on the par-5 16th. It was one of only two eagles on the day. Wong had two birdies on the front nine and finished with nine consecutive pars.

Also in the lineup, junior Tatiana Wijaya (Jakarta, Indonesia) tied for ninth with a 74 and freshman Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) tied for 11th with a 75. Wijaya had 15 pars on the day, more than any other player.

Pepperdine returns to action at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, California, on April 9-11. That's the final event before the West Coast Conference Championships.
