RANCHO SANTA FE, California " After wins over Washington State and Northwestern on Monday, the Pepperdine women's golf team is into the semifinals at San Diego State's March Mayhem and will meet West Coast Conference foe BYU on Tuesday.

The Waves, seeded seventh in the match-play competition at The Farms Golf Club, knocked off Washington State 3-1 in the first round, then posted a 3-0 upset over second-seeded Northwestern in the quarterfinals.

Sixth-seeded BYU also pulled off an upset, beating third-seeded Arizona 3-1 in the quarterfinals. Tuesday's other semifinal pits #1 USC against either #4 San Diego State or #12 Fresno State. Some matches were not completed due to darkness and will be finished on Tuesday morning.

Once a team gets to three points, any active matches are being abandoned.

Sophomore Patricia Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) recorded a pair of victories, winning 2&1 against Washington State's Madison Odiorne and 6&5 against Northwestern's Kacie Komoto.

Juniors Tatiana Wijaya (Jakarta, Indonesia) and Katherine Zhu (Vancouver, B.C.) had the other victories against Washington State, while sophomore Hira Naveed (Perth, Australia) and freshman Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) got the other wins against Northwestern.

Kobori's victory came against the nation's 44th-ranked golfer, Hannah Kim of Northwestern.

The final day of the tournament is Wednesday.
