PROVO, Utah - The Pepperdine women's basketball ran into a hot-shooting BYU Cougars squad on Thursday night, falling on the road 88-49.

BYU shot 50% for the game and hit 13 threes to pull away from the Waves. Pepperdine falls to 6-18 overall, 4-9 in West Coast Conference play. The Cougars move to 15-9, 9-5 WCC.

Yasmine Robinson-Bacote scored 15 points in the game and Kim Jacobs put up 13 for the Waves. BYU had four players score in double-figures, led by Kalani Purcell with 16 points.

The Waves started strong in the first half, scoring 13 points and staying within four points of BYU through the first eight minutes. Pepperdine went cold over the next 12 minutes, however, scoring just four points to go into the half trailing 44-17.

Robinson-Bacote led all scorers in the first half with 13 points, Kalani Purcell had 12 points for the Cougars. BYU scored 18 points in the paint and had 15 second chance points in the first half, a departure from the 14 threes they made against the Waves last time the teams met.

The three-pointers started flying in the second half for the home team as BYU hit seven threes in the final two quarters. Pepperdine finally knocked down three triples in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late.

The Waves will be back in action on Saturday when they host San Diego for a 1 p.m. contest in Firestone Fieldhouse. That will be the Waves pink game supporting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and can be seen on TheW.tv.
