LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The No. 11 Pepperdine women's soccer team ended its season with a 3-0 loss to 12th-ranked and third-seeded Virginia on Friday night at UCLA in a second round NCAA Tournament game.
The Waves end the season 15-3-3 on the year after making the program's seventh appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Virginia moves to 13-5-4 and will play the winner of UCLA/Northwestern on Sunday.
A short-handed Pepperdine squad, playing without its second and fifth leading scorers, couldn't sustain its attack and break down the Cavalier defense on Friday night after giving up an early goal. It was the first time all season the vaunted Waves defense had allowed more than one goal.
