
Pepperdine Named Top 5 NCAA Water Polo Program

MALIBU, Calif. – The NCAA ranked its top five programs in water polo history this week, and named Pepperdine as number five. Other schools ranked were Stanford, USC, UCLA and California, ranked in that order.
The program has been NCAA sanctioned since 1975, with an overall record of 756-507. Head Coach Terry Schroeder has been at the head for 25 non-consecutive years, after an illustrious playing career for the Waves. He has been regarded as one of the best players and coaches in the history of the sport. Schroeder led the Waves to the program's first ever NCAA National Championship in 1997 after a record 20-3 season. The Waves' winning ways have also always been recognized by the NCAA, with 42 of 45 seasons ending with the Waves in the top 10 of the national rankings. The program has produced 70 All-Americans and five Olympians.
